Eco-Friendly Acrobat Ant Control

Acrobat Ants

Ants are the most ubiquitous pest on Earth, and for good reason. They are hardy and have adapted to almost every environment

Acrobat ants are predatory insects, mostly feeding on grasshoppers, termites, wasps and other small insects.

What do Acrobat ants look like?

Acrobat ants are most distinguishable by their large, heart-shaped gaster, or abdomen. This is the rearmost section of the ant’s body. When threatened, an acrobat ant will raise its abdomen in defense, from which the ant can release its venom.

Where would I find Acrobat ants?

Outdoors, Acrobat ants are commonly found in arboreal (wooded) areas and shaded areas. They can commonly be found in trees, wood piles, or near large rock formations. However, they are comfortable nesting in other places as well.

Indoors, Acrobat ants have been found nesting near electrical wires (perhaps to hunt carpenter ants in the building structure).

What do Acrobat ants eat?

As previously mentioned, Acrobat ants eat other insects. Perhaps most impressively, they will hunt some species of wasp when the opportunity presents itself.

Are Acrobat ants dangerous?

Acrobat ants can bite humans, but such bites will typically only result in a stinging and minor irritation at the site of the bite. If a more severe reaction occurs, seek medical attention.
